NowSecure, creator of the award-winning NowSecure mobile app, today unveils the beta version of NowSecure Intelligence䋢, its mobile threat analytics product. NowSecure Intelligence uses the NowSecure growing global database which is built on real-time user data, and presents an aggregated view of the state of mobile security worldwide. Taking the form of an interactive map and analytics reporting tool, NowSecure Intelligence䋢 is debuting at the RSA Conference, at the NowSecure booth in North Hall #N3135 and online at nowsecure.com.

NowSecure, a mobile security company founded in 2009, enables global enterprises, government organizations and four of the five largest financial institutions with mobile app and device testing, analytics, forensics and user device protection products and services.

NowSecure Intelligence beta edition is now available to anyone through the NowSecure web site, providing real-time insights into global vulnerabilities that can put enterprises and individuals alike at risk of loss of privacy, corporate espionage and identity theft. The NowSecure threat analytics product includes a real-time global security score, data traffic detail, and the top five mobile security vulnerabilities as well as a visual representation of which geographies and organizations generate the greatest risk.

Analytics are derived from a daily average of 104,000,000 data points from over 170,000 mobile devices using the NowSecure Protect䋢 mobile app in 188 countries. App users opt-in to share this data, providing a valuable global view of the state of mobile security. NowSecure believes that both data privacy and security are of utmost importance in analytics, so personally-identifiable information is never uploaded. NowSecure protects user privacy and security at every analytics stage.

“Despite a steady drumbeat of news about mobile security vulnerabilities and hacking, there is still not sufficient awareness of the real magnitude of the issue,” explained Andrew Hoog, CEO and co-founder of NowSecure. “To help address this, we are making a public version of the global insights from NowSecure Intelligence䋢 available for free. Now, both enterprise mobile security administrators and individuals concerned about mobile security can identify and understand risks.”

The NowSecure mission is to advance mobile security worldwide. The NowSecure Intelligence mobile threat analytics product provides the transparency and insights essential to making mobile security more manageable. By crowdsourcing mobile security, everyone can better identify risks and begin to take action to improve mobile data and device security worldwide.

NowSecure Intelligence䋢 Analytics Reveals Top Five Mobile Security Vulnerabilities

Millions of data points are analyzed daily by the NowSecure Intelligence product. As of today, user devices from 188 countries reveal these top five security risks:

  1. Low Data Security. When your device and apps send data without protecting it with encryption, the data can be easily intercepted.
  2. Outdated OS Version. Operating system updates typically patch known security vulnerabilities. Attackers can exploit these vulnerabilities if you do not upgrade your OS.
  3. Connect to Open WiFi. When your device is connected to an open Wi-Fi network, the data you send can be easily intercepted.
  4. Installation of Unverified Apps. Apps downloaded from unverified app stores are more likely to contain security vulnerabilities that may affect your security.
  5. Android Debuggable Allowed. When Android Debug mode is turned on, any computer connected to your device with a USB cable gets high level access to the data on your device.

NowSecure Intelligence Beta Release Open for Feedback

NowSecure is looking forward to receiving valuable feedback during the beta release from both enterprise and individual users as to the type of data and insights they want to see and access with the NowSecure Intelligence mobile threat analytics product. Future releases of NowSecure Intelligence will feature more metrics and allow for free developer access to the NowSecure Intelligence API. Additionally, NowSecure will work with enterprise customers to create customized NowSecure Intelligence enterprise-specific data feeds, providing deeper insight into the vulnerabilities faced by mobile devices in the enterprise’s network.
