5 Common Security Mistakes in Mobile App Development

Presented on September 2, 2014

Security vulnerabilities are rampant in mobile applications. Case in point: In our testing, 60% of mobile apps have at least one high risk security vulnerability. Director of Mobile Services Katie Strzempka discusses the 5 most common flaws that she and her team see while doing mobile application security tests and suggests how to mitigate these vulnerabilities. In the second half, there is an open question & answer section where the audience is encouraged to participate.

How do we determine most common vulnerabilities?

Katie’s team worked on the first generalized testing to obtain high-level results from the 100 most popular apps from the app stores, and she will discuss the statistics of their findings during her viaTalk.

What kind of issues will Katie touch on?

She will mention some of the most common places to find data stored insecurely, including but not limited to data log files. She will also explain how some apps are susceptible to Man-in-the-Middle or other network attacks.
